If you haven't been following the news on The Barnett Shale Formation, you might be unaware of the largest natural gas find in the U.S.
"enough to supply all gas-heated homes in the U.S. for more than five years..."
We hadn't paid much attention ourselves until a gas exploration company set up a town hall meeting in our neighborhood. We weren't able to attend the meeting due to prior commitments, but representatives from the company made the effort to contact us individually. Last night we signed.
This doesn't mean that gas drilling equipment will go up on our lawn or that we'll be another Real McCoy story. The drilling equipment will go up on the other side of I20 and we'll get maybe $35 to $200/month IF gas is found in our collective piece of the formation. The signing bonus will pay our natural gas bill for an entire year. Not bad for doing NOTHING.

'scuse you.

And they moved to Beverly!
In other news of getting paid to do nothing, I'll be getting $25.00 (easy refund option #1) because I charged stuff/used ATMs overseas in 1996. I guess there were overcharges on fees during the 1996 to 2006 period, a class action suit resulted in a $336 million settlement, and I was one of the people on record. That was the year we took the kids to Europe and No. 2's body decided to grow (for the first time in YEARS) resulting in some pretty fantastic food bills. 'course we also couldn't go to London without getting Doc Martens and couldn't ... and all those great bargains added up to "I'd better charge a few things and/or hit the ATM again". Kinda nice, though, to get $25 back 11 years later.
Nobody's mentioned the weather here lately, and it seems like all I hear on the news is how winter storms are hitting everyone from Oklahoma to Illinois. Did any of you lose electricity or suffer unduly from the weather?
Nope, no snow or ice here. Just rain for what feels like forever. It's finally getting down below freezing tonight but now the moisture is gone. Tomorrow night will be below freezing again but then back up to reasonable temps for lows for the rest of the forecast. The official forecast lows and even official lows are always lower than what we actually get where we are, though, by a good 5-10 degrees... usually.
Anyway, nope, nothing exciting here in SE OK weather-wise unless mud excites you.
My mom (Bloomington) mentioned in her latest emails that they've been hit with snow and ice but no mention of electricity going out. No word from my northern IL relatives but that's not unusual.

Holy frickin snow here! I't's been snowing since 2pm and it's about 2am and it still hasn't stopped. Not the best to drive in, but definitely good snowman weather.
And sledding! w00t!
Good to hear y'all are at least having a little fun in the snow.
Psst. I was able to get that... thing. The... thing I talked about in that last entry. Ahem. For the cheap price.
(I should never have taught the kidlets to read, especially over my shoulder. I'll email later. :-D )
Psst. I heard people were talking about that thing on the front page of where we used to go maybe 10 years ago. Might be just a rumor, though. I didn't check it out.
I'm not sure I'm doing this right. Its #1 the blog looks really cool and that 1st rubber plant looks really sad. I love you and have a great trip!

If words show up in the comments (which they did), you're doing it right.
Love you, too, Sweetie.
